Sociology

The Department of Sociology had full-time teachers only for a few years since its establishment in 1991. On the other hand, since 1999, the Principal himself has been the head of the department. This department also runs postgraduate programmes in addition to regular degree courses.

Dr. B. P. Wankhede was here from 1999 to 2003, while Dr. M. V. Kolhe was the head of the department from 2006. Both of them were members of the Sociology Studies Board of the university. Many candidates have completed their Ph.D. under the guidance of both these teachers. Since the Principal was from the same department, there was no other full-time teacher in the department. Therefore, most of the teaching responsibility fell on the part-time teachers. Like all other departments, this department also follows effective teaching and evaluation methods. Dr. Kavita Mate was appointed as a full-time teacher only for postgraduate courses. However, now the seats for both the degree and postgraduate courses are vacant.
