Another compulsory language taught in the college – Marathi Department – was established in 1991. This department also runs postgraduate programmes since 2001. It is the only department to boast of producing a gold medallist at the postgraduate level in the form of Kumari Shraddha K. Ganorkar in 2003-04. Kumari Chhaya Kale and Kumari Kirti Pawar from this department were jointly awarded the Shri Shankarrao Daulatrao Gedam Award for securing the highest percentage in the university examination in Marathi literature from the rural areas of Nagpur. This department has given the society many NET/SET qualified teachers and responsible citizens.
Dr. Hemantkumar V. Bagde, Professor of Marathi at the neighbouring P.W.S. College, Kalmeshwar, is a student of this department.
Dr. R. R. Dahat was the first professor to teach in this department. He was there till 2007. Prof. Vinod U. Bhalerao was appointed in December 2008. Like all other departments, this department also adopts effective teaching and evaluation methods and scores well in the university examinations every year. Prof. Bhalerao was awarded the Ph.D. degree by Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur in September 2018. Prof. Dr. Priyanka Lande was appointed as a full-time teacher for postgraduate classes only in the academic session 2018-19. Dr. Vinod Bhalerao is the approved research guide of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur since 2021. Two students are doing research under his guidance. He is a professor and is working as the joint secretary of Marathi Professors Council, Nagpur University and Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. He is also a life member of Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh, Nagpur.
