Marathi
The Department of Marathi – another compulsory language taught in the college – was also established in 1991. The department also runs P.G. programme from 2001. This is the only department which can boast of producing a gold medalist at Post Graduation level in the form of Ms. Shraddha K. Ganorkar in 2003-04. Ms. Chhaya Kale and Ms. Kirti Pawar from the department who were jointly awarded the Shri Shankarrao Daulatrao Gedam Prize for obtaining the highest percentage of marks in university examinations in Marathi Literature from rural area of Nagpur. The department has given the society many NET/SET qualifiers teachers and responsible citizens.
Dr. Hemantkumar V. Bagde, Assistant Professor of Marathi in the neighboring P.W.S. College, Kalmeshwar is the product of this department only.
Dr. R. R. Dahat was the first faculty to teach in the department. He was there up to 2007. Prof. Vinod U. Bhalerao was appointed in December 2008. Like all other departments, this department also follows effective teaching and evaluation methods and gives good results in the university examinations every year. Prof. Bhalerao was awarded Ph.D. by Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur in September 2018. Prof. Priyanka N. Lande — our own alumna and a product of our NET / SET Classes — was appointed as a full time teacher exclusively for P.G. classes in the Academic Session 2018-19.
